Announcing NBPRC’s NPG (New to Publishing Group) 2016

November 2015

In response to feedback and a very positive evaluation of the two New to Publishing Groups in 2014-2015, NBPRC is pleased to announce New to Publishing Group (NPG) 2016 to support novice first authors and newer writers in publication of articles.  The group will be co-led by May Tao (Health Promotion Specialist & BPSO Project Coordinator, Toronto Public Health) and Dan Nagel, (PhD Candidate at the University of Ottawa and Assistant Professor at St. Francis Xavier University). Both co-leaders were part of the original pilot project, It’s Time to Publish, and co-led both of last year’s NPG series.  May and Dan have experience with successfully submitting manuscripts for publication as first authors and as co-authors.

NPG 2016 will be geared towards those individuals who have not published previously as a first author and have either a paper in progress or an idea for writing an article.  Members of NPG 2016 will meet monthly through teleconferencing technology to provide a peer-supported virtual environment to guide new writers through the process of developing an article, selecting an appropriate journal or forum for the manuscript, and navigating some of the challenges in getting a paper published.
